The way Kratom is harvested and dried has a direct impact on its quality, alkaloid concentration, and safety. Unfortunately, many farmers use methods that compromise these critical aspects. At bigtrea, we ensure the highest standards in both harvesting and drying to deliver a clean, potent, and reliable Kratom product.
Proper Kratom Harvesting
One of the most common mistakes in the industry is harvesting leaves too early.
- A Kratom leaf needs about 8 months to fully develop on cultivated trees.
- On wild Kratom trees, the maturation process may take up to 12 months.
If picked too early, the alkaloid content—the compounds responsible for Kratom’s effects—will be significantly lower. This leads to substandard quality that does not meet consumer expectations. Many farmers, pressured by time and demand, harvest prematurely, which compromises the final product.
At bigtrea, we allow the leaves to remain on the tree long enough to produce the optimal alkaloid profile, ensuring both potency and consistency.
Drying Methods
After harvesting, the leaves must be dried before they are crushed and milled. Farmers and processors use several techniques:
- Outside on the ground
- Outside on shelves
- Inside on shelves
- Inside on the floor
- Wet leaves sealed in plastic bags (used for Bentuangie Kratom)
Each method has different risks and outcomes.
Why We Use In-House Drying
At bigtrea, we only accept indoor shelf-drying, which we consider the safest and cleanest approach. Here’s why:
- Ground drying → High risk of contamination from soil, dust, and insects.
- Outdoor shelf drying → Vulnerable to birds, animals, and human contact.
- Plastic bag fermentation (Bentuangie method) → Creates an environment where bacteria and fungi thrive and 7-Hydroxymitragynin (7-OH) is created through fermentation, both posing a serious health risk for consumers.
By contrast, indoor shelf drying ensures:
- No direct sunlight exposure.
- Minimal contamination risk.
- A clean and controlled environment that preserves the natural alkaloids.
This method guarantees that our Kratom is both safe and high-quality, free from unnecessary risks during production.
Our Commitment to Quality
From harvesting at the right time to careful in-house drying, we focus on every step of the process to ensure:
- Maximum alkaloid concentration
- Clean and contamination-free production
- Premium Kratom that meets international standards
By working closely with our suppliers and enforcing strict controls, bigtrea ensures that only the best Kratom leaves make it to our customers.
